Biography[]
Jemima, Sarah, Vanessa, and Neville are pets owned by Granny Pig. They live in a small barn house in Grandpa Pig's garden. Jemima, Sarah, and Vanessa are hens, and Neville is a cockerel. They debuted in the episode Granny Pig's Chickens, where they were guilty of eating Grandpa Pig's lettuce patch. Later on in the episode, they laid eggs. The chickens have also appeared in later episodes, such as Spring and Night Animals. In Spring, Grandpa Pig, Granny Pig, Peppa, George, and Peppa's friends watch Jemimah, Sarah, and Vanessa lay eggs and have baby chicks. In Night Animals, Grandpa Pig puts the chickens to bed.
The chickens were named after members of the series' production crew: Jemima Williams, Sarah Roper, Vanessa Croan, and Neville Astley. Granny Pig admires her chickens and takes good care of them. However, Grandpa Pig is not very fond of them because they constantly eat his vegetable patches. In their debut episode, he refers to Jemima, Sarah, and Vanessa as "Tom", "Dick", and "Harry."
